What’s the Most Popular Children’s Gift This Year? — Survey of the Day
According to a Harris Interactive survey of adults planning to buy children’s presents this holiday season, the most popular kid’s gift items — more popular than video games, board games and dolls — are books.
Forty-five percent of gift-buying adults say they will be buying someone under 18 a book, while 33 percent will spring for a video game. Arts and crafts (29 percent), board games (25 percent) and dolls (25 percent) rounded out the top five most popular kid’s gifts this year.
The percentages are different for those who are holiday shopping for older children, however. About 64 percent of adults targeting the 10- to 17-year-old age group will be buying a video game, while only 38 percent plan to give the gift of a book.
