A 24-year-old Casper man has been arrested in connection with a Cheyenne vehicle burglary, police said Thursday.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says a purse was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle at the Maverik on Gardenia Drive around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

"Shortly thereafter, Austin Goodfellow was observed at Walmart using a credit card (that was in the purse) and later on in the day ended up being contacted by officers," said Malatesta.

Goodfellow was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy, misdemeanor theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 29 in Laramie County Circuit Court.

"Hide your valuables, lock your doors and take it with you," said Malatesta.

"We're going to be doing our part looking for these guys, making sure that we are catching up to them, finding vehicle burglars, but at the same time we want people to protect their belongings and not be victims in the first place," he added.
