Check The Map Of Laramie County Sex Offenders Before Your Kids Trick-or-Treat
As children get ready to trick-or-treat, here's a reminder for parents. There are currently registered sex offenders in Laramie County and some of them may live in your neighborhood.
A Laramie County Sheriff's Office map from OffenderWatch, the nation's leading sex offender management and community notification tool, indicates 326 registered sex offenders living within a five-mile radius of downtown Cheyenne as of October 2020.
"Community Notification empowers the public with knowledge that can be used to protect themselves and their families from becoming a victim," Sheriff Danny Glick said.
Children are especially vulnerable during events like Halloween. Parents are urged to make sure that all children under the age of 12 are supervised by a responsible adult while trick-or-treating. Officials also encourage parents to check for registered sex offenders living in their areas and to warn children to avoid them.
No determination has been made that any individual included in the registry is currently dangerous. The information provided isn't intended to be used to harass registered sex offenders or their families, but simply comply with Wyoming Law. If you have further questions about registered sex offenders you can contact the Laramie County Sheriff's Department Sex Offender Registry at (307)633-4733. - Laramie County Sherrif's Office
