Cheyenne firefighters were called out to fight a pair of fires within a half-hour of each other on Sunday evening, according to a release from Cheyenne Fire Rescue.

The first blaze was reported at 5:15 a.m. in a garage in the 2600 block of Bent Avenue. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:19 a.m., finding a small garage converted into an efficiency apartment on fire.

The blaze was put out in about 20 minutes, and even though the structure was still not safe to enter, they were able to determine that no one was inside. The garage is considered a total loss, but no injuries were reported. A second fire was reported at 4:50 p.m. to a home in the 3500 block of Ridge Road.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at 4:58 p.m., finding smoke billowing from the front door and a bedroom window. The fire was put out in about seven minutes. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries, but firefighters did rescue four dogs and a cat. Two cats were still missing at last report.

Both fires are still being investigated.
