Cheyenne Man Bound Over in Wife Beating Case
A Cheyenne man accused of beating his wife with a door stop pole and choking her has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Twenty-nine-year-old John Mayer was arrested on February 4, after Cheyenne Police were called to a domestic battery at his home.
According to court documents, Mayer told police that he hit his wife with a pole and began choking her after he knocked her to the floor.
When police asked Mayer if he was trying to kill his wife, he replied, "Yes, yes I was."
Mayer has been charged with strangulation of a household member, domestic battery and interference with an emergency call. He's facing up to six years in prison if convicted on all three counts.
