Cheyenne Police Seek Suspects in Smash-and-Grab Car Break-Ins

Cheyenne police are investigating a series of smash-and-grab car break-ins that occurred in the Planet Fitness parking lot on March 9.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says three vehicles had windows broken by thieves, who made off with purses containing credit cards.

"The burglars in this case went to Walmart nearby and made purchases using these stolen credit cards," said Malatesta. "They were described as leaving in a white SUV."

Police have released photos of the suspects and are asking anyone who recognizes them to call Crime Stoppers Silent Witness at (307) 638-TIPS.

"It's pretty unusual for us to have this type of crime happen here," said Malatesta.

"Sometimes you get people traveling through looking for this type of opportunity, capitalizing on it and then moving on," he added. "So it could be the case here and it could be otherwise, it could be local as well."
