Chicken Plucked From Cheyenne Culver’s Menu
For the first time in years, today I ate a Culver’s butter burger. I used to once in a blue moon until I discovered Culver’s fried chicken is also awesome. I’m sorry. I mean it was awesome. I just found out how long it’s been since I was last there. It’s been about three months because that’s when Culver’s discontinued my fabulous fried chicken. Slap me silly and call me Sally.
Having a hankering for their fried chicken the way only Culver’s does it - uh did it - I was horrified when I got there to find it no longer on the menu! What a bummer, you know, when you had a real hankering. How did I miss that it was dropped three months ago! Much like the good kid behind the counter told me, Culver’s had issued the following generic statement on their Facebook Page:
“We are constantly cooking up new items for our menu and often need to make difficult decisions on certain lower volume menu items to make room for these new offerings.”
And yes, it was a decision corporate-wide, not just at the Culver’s on Dell Range in Cheyenne. When I heard that my heart really sank. Then I knew I couldn’t stop at the nearest one between here and Denver on my next trip.
I flat loved their particular fried chicken because it was never greasy and never sat under a heat lamp for hours. I used to get the two piece with two sides (mashed taters & green beans), and I was a happy man. (Was I raised in Longview, Texas or what!)
I don’t know why I’m killing myself thinking about it because now the fried chicken is gone. Of course you can still get Culver’s chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches.
Culver’s, I will always love your butter burgers and custard and I’ll still be a fan, but please bring back my winter comfort food.
