City, Firefighters in Contract Talks

Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says the city and the firefighters union --I-A-A-F Local 279–are currently in talks over a new contract. Kaysen says both sides have submitted proposals and the next step is to hammer out a contract agreement in time for it to be included in a new budget for fiscal year 2013, which begins on July 1. The firefighters are the only group of city employees with a recognized union which negotiates with the city on a contract.
