Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr and City Council President Dr. Mark Rinne are asking citizens not to "succumb to the hysteria and hoard food and household supplies" following Thursday's order closing certain public places and placing restrictions on restaurants within Laramie County.

"Think about your fellow citizens," the two said in a press release. "Take care of each other and be safe."

Orr and Rinne say the order -- which comes after three individuals in Cheyenne have tested positive for COVID-19 -- will not affect "essential city services, police, fire, sanitation and snow removal."

"We want to express sympathy for those directly affected by this decision," the two said. "We know that the next few weeks will be difficult for all of us, particularly for those that will be struggling to get by without an income."

"While we are disappointed in the decision to restrict businesses in Cheyenne, we understand the decision," the two added.
