Wyoming women’s tennis coach Dean Clower rounded out the Cowgirls’ 2020 recruiting class with Sophie Zehender from Germany.

The announcement came on Thursday in a release from Wyoming Athletics.

Clower said of Zehender, who hails from Stuttgart, “Sophie brings us a wealth of talent and experience. She is extremely athletic and an excellent ball-striker to add to our already deep team. We can’t wait to get Sophie here and start working with her and the many tools she brings.”

Zehender is a Second District champion in Germany. She also finished runner-up at the Baden-Wurttembergische Championship. Zehender also has experience in the youth and women’s German Championships. In 2019, she reached the semifinals of three national tournaments and the finals in two regional tourneys. Zehender was the 2019 RVR Cup Champion and was a semifinalist at both the Ladies Open and Dimah Open.

She joins Alyse Cormier and Lucia Malinak in the 2020 recruiting class for Wyoming Cowgirl tennis.
