East High School was placed on secure perimeter for roughly 15 minutes Tuesday afternoon as Cheyenne police responded to a nearby "disturbance."

Laramie County School District 1 spokeswoman Mary Quast says school officials went into a secure perimeter protocol at 3:11 p.m. and the secure perimeter was lifted at 3:25 p.m.

"Student athletes were pulled into the building to continue practice," said Quast. "Throughout this time, students and staff remained safe."

The protocol is enacted when activity in the vicinity of a facility calls for heightened security with non-imminent danger.
