There are just certain things that go together. Things like spaghetti and meatballs, cheeseburgers and french fries, pepperoni and cheese, cookies and milk, and let's not forget about baseball and Eaton, Colo.

Congratulations are definitely in order for the Eaton High School baseball team for capturing another 3A state title over the weekend over University High School in a big 10-4 win as the quest for back-to-back state titles is now complete.

Not only is this an impressive back-to-back run, but something more of an extremely impressive run of excellence as this is the school's 13th state title.

Sure, the Reds went 28-2 this year and just basically rolled over opponents all year, especially during their 12-game winning streak to cap off the season in the big state title game.

So what exactly is it about Eaton and baseball? Well, you can without a doubt trace the roots and the engine of this baseball program back to the man who brought 11 of those state titles to Eaton, the great Jim Danley.

Danley, over 44 years of coaching from 1972 to 2015, compiled a record of 807-163-2 which tied the nation's record for top prep winning percentage as a coach.

That tradition and standard that was set by Danley has been carried on over the years as the Reds continue to shine on the diamond, and this back-to-back title certainly is proof that baseball in Eaton is just another piece of fabric that is sewn in Northern Colorado.

Congratulations to all involved with Eaton High School and the baseball team on all of their success.

What a cool way to head into summer.
