LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowboys open a brief homestand on Thursday welcoming Front Range rival Denver to the Arena-Auditorium for a 7 p.m. start on the MW Network. The Pokes are one of 20 undefeated teams in college basketball.

About The Teams

Wyoming is 6-0 on the season after a road win at CSU Fullerton on Monday. The Cowboys lead the conference and rank sixth in the nation allowing opponents to shot only 35 percent from the field. The Pokes are shooting 52 percent from the field to rank second in the conference and seventh in the nation.

The Pokes are averaging 83.7 points per game to rank No. 24 in the nation and rank No. 27 in the nation allowing 58.3 points per game.

The Pioneers are led by first-year head coach Jeff Wulbrun. He spent the previous five seasons as an assistant coach at Stanford. During his time in Palo Alto, the Cardinal went to the NIT once. Denver is 3-5 on the season with a pair of Division I wins over Houston Baptist and IUPUI. The Pioneers were selected ninth in the 10-team preseason Summit League poll.

About The Players

Wyoming is led in scoring by Hunter Maldonado at 19.4 points per game. He also leads the team and ranks No. 16 in the nation adding six assists per night. He had a season-high nine at CSUF. Forward Graham Ike adds 18.8 points per game and leads the team with eight rebounds per night. He ranks seventh in the MW in rebounding, as he and Maldonado rank fifth and sixth in the league in scoring. Guard Drake Jeffries adds 13.2 points per game and is shooting 58.5 percent from beyond the arc to rank second in the nation.

The Pioneers are led by KJ Hunt who pours in 17.5 points per game. He also owns a team-best 3.8 assists per contest, while also chipping in 4.1 rebounds per game. Jordan Johnson and Michael Henn also average double figures in points, adding 11 and 10.5 points per contest, respectively.

About The Series

Wyoming and Denver will meet for the 158th time on Thursday. Wyoming is 106-52 against the Pioneers in a series that dates to 1915. The Pokes have won three of the last five meetings.
