Does anyone else fly Frontier for the cute animal pictures? No? Just me? Great.

If you happened to be interested in flying in a ferret-themed plane, now you can. Frontier has officially introduced Wellington, the Black-Footed Ferret, to its airplane ‘zoo.’ This aims to bring attention to Wellington, a small town in Larimer County, and the local efforts to protect one of the most endangered species in North America.

Barry Biffle, President and CEO of Frontier airlines said in a press release he’s excited to welcome Wellington to the fleet. “The animals on the tails of our aircraft are part of Frontier’s DNA and Wellington is a special addition to the fleet because of its connection to Colorado and its endangerment. As America’s Greenest Airline, we feel a great responsibility to support the efforts of the National Black-Footed Ferret Conservation Center and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them.”

The US Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Black-Footed Ferret Conservation Center, alongside several partners, puts in monumental efforts to recover the species and keeping eyes on the population health as a whole.

Noreen Walsh, Regional Director for the US Fish and Wildlife Service states that, “It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come together on our journey to bring this species back from the brink of extinction.” She goes on to say, “This success is due in large part to the strength of our partnerships with states, local communities, tribes, ranching families, and now, Frontier Airlines.”

This small, unique mammal was chosen due to the fact that it is the only ferret native to North America. Not only has Frontier Airlines partnered with the conservation center to call attention to all endangered species’, but Frontier operates 95 A320 family aircrafts, making this the largest A320neo fleet in the US.

For those of us that don’t speak ‘plane,’ this means that these aircrafts deliver the highest level of noise reduction, and offer fuel-efficiency strategies such as arranging their seats according to weight-saving tactics and baggage processes which contributes to the airline’s average of 39% fuel savings when compared to other US airlines.
