Here's a fun fact. Did you know that Casper is the seat of Natrona County because of voter fraud?

128 years ago, on April 8, 1890, an election was held to determine the county seat. After the tiny town of Bessemer was declared the winner, people in Casper protested the outcome.

Of the 1,094 Natrona County residents in 1890, 544 of them lived in Casper while Bessemer's population was only 24. The allegations of voter fraud eventually overturned the election and Casper was named the county seat.

Natrona County has since grown to over 80,000 residents. According to a 2016 estimate, nearly 60,000 of them live in Casper. And while the town of Bessemer no longer exists, there are still 199 people in the Bessemer Bend area.
