UPDATE: I-80 Reopens to Most Traffic Following Hours-Long Closure
4:30 P.M. UPDATE:
Interstate 80 between Walcott Junction and Laramie has been closed to light, high-profile vehicles due to gusting winds.
4:10 P.M. UPDATE:
Interstate 80 has reopened to all traffic.
A black ice advisory is in effect for the 12-mile stretch between Wagonhound Road (exit 267) and Cooper Cove Road (exit 279).
ORIGINAL STORY:
It could be early Thursday morning before Interstate 80 in Wyoming reopens, according to the Department of Transportation.
Currently, the eastbound lanes are closed from Evanston to Rawlins due to rolling closure, both lanes are closed between Rawlins and Laramie due to winter conditions and crashes, and the westbound lanes are closed from Cheyenne to Laramie due to rolling closure.
As of 1:30 p.m., WYDOT estimated it would take crews 11 to 13 hours to get the 100-mile stretch between Rawlins and Laramie back open.
