
Holcomb Named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., – For the first time this 2025 volleyball season, a Wyoming Cowgirl has taken home conference player of the week honors.
Sarah Holcomb, was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week Monday, announced by the league office. It marks the third time in her career that Holcomb has received the honor.

Holcomb, who helped lead the Cowgirls to a pair of wins last week to begin conference play, was a terror at the net defensively. Holcomb averaged 2.13 blocks per set, tallying 17 blocks total. She had seven solo and 10 block assists.
In the five-set thriller against Colorado State, Holcomb tallied seven total blocks. In the weekend cap against Air Force, Holcomb hit double-digit blocks for the eighth time in her career, tallying 10 in just three sets. She also helped spearhead a UW defense that held the Falcons to just an .080 hitting percentage as a team.
Holcomb and the rest of the Cowgirls hit the road this week for the first time in league play. Wyoming travels to face new Mountain West member Grandon Canyon at 7 p.m., Thursday before facing New Mexico at 1 p.m., Saturday.
