Skip Ewing's Playing A Show In Dubois, WY Benefitting Veterans

Music plays a large role in most of our lives, even more than you have probably ever thought about. A song can summon up old feelings, bring you out of a dark place, put a smile on your face when you're having a bad day, and make a life experience even more memorable.

Have you ever thought about life without songs? How boring would those road trips, jogs, or workouts be? Wow, I'd prefer not to think about that. Heck, I'd have to find another career.

Behind every song you hear on the radio or on your own personal playlist, there's a songwriter who has put their heart and soul into writing it, hoping it will impact others.

Through my 30+ years in the radio industry, learning the story behind the song has always been my favorite part. Most of the time, a song comes from the songwriter's own story. A relationship, a person, someone who passed away, a broken heart, their favorite pickup truck or dog- you get what I'm saying.

Over the last few years, I've been able to get to know an amazing songwriter/ singer named Skip Ewing. Skip is one of those songwriters who has put is hear and soul into songs, and has impacted others. He's written tons songs, and some of them were recorded by your favorite artists, like Kenny Chesney, Randy Travis, Clint Black, Collin Raye, George Jones, George Strait, Diamond Rio, Bryan White, Mark Wills, and Reba, just to name a few.

On top of that, he's written, recorded, and released multiple albums himself, including the albums Wyoming, Road to California, and most recently, Dragonfly.

If you love music and want to hear the stories behind the music from the person who wrote the songs, you're invited to Bone Daddy's "Outlaw Bar & Saloon" in Dubois on Thursday, August 6.

Skip will be doing a fundraiser show to benefit veterans through the organization Horns for Heroes. The show is free, but there's a $20 suggested donation that will go directly to Horns for Heroes.

Joining Skip on stage will be singer, songwriter, and musician Lillie Mae, who is a member of Post Malone's touring band, as well as singer and touring and session drummer Noel Bisesti, both based in Nashville, TN.
