You know, there are some special people in our community who often receive a lot of grief, but they're extremely important to our daily lives. They're responsible for you receiving letters from your family, birthday greetings, and your online shopping packages. They never get the recognition they deserve, but their job is tough, and we should do a better job of thanking them.

The United States Postal Service Letter Carriers.

Not only do they take pride in ensuring your mail arrives, but they are part of the community and care for the well-being of those whose mail they carry.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, it's the 34th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Fill a bag with non-perishable food items and set the bag near your mailbox. USPS employees will then collect the bags and take them to food banks around our community. With school ending, some families will rely on donated food to survive the summer.

Stamp Out Hunger is spearheaded by the National Association of Letter Carriers, or NALC, which partners with USPS, other unions, the United Way, and several businesses to carry it out.

Food donated to the Stamp Out Hunger Drive should have a long shelf life.
