Buffalo is one of those few sports cities that take its teams to heart. It's been known for years that this sports city has a drinking and hockey problem, and knowing this, team officials are seeking to raise the fan energy in Western New York to a new level.

According to The Buffalo News, the Buffalo Bills franchise has officially submitted the paperwork required to host the NFL Draft.

Reporters to The News spoke to Pete Guelli, the Buffalo Bills' Chief Operating Officer. Guelli confirmed that the Bills initially sought to host the 2028 NFL Draft but also requested to host the 2029 NFL Draft.

The team is seeking to host the draft as part of the buildup of the new stadium and team facilities in Orchard Park.

What Is The NFL Draft?

Officially known as the Annual Player Selection Meeting, the NFL Draft is where teams can recruit new players from college or other feeder sources into the league. The first NFL Draft occurred in 1936 and has happened annually since.

Since 1965, the NFL Draft has been held in New York City at either the Theater at Madison Square Garden, the Javits Convention Center, or Radio City Music Hall. Starting in 2015, the NFL started to allow franchise cities to host the draft, which has been held in several NFL cities since. Philadelphia; Arlington, Texas. Nashville, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Chicago, and Detroit have all hosted the draft, with Green Bay, Wisconsin, on deck to host the Draft in 2025 and Pittsburgh hosting in 2026.
