A 41-year-old Cheyenne woman is out on bond after being arrested for aggravated assault.

Felony Arrest

According to a booking sheet, the Laramie County Sheriff's Office arrested Nicole Alexis Gillispie at a home in the 3400 block of South Greeley Highway at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.

Gillispie was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with aggravated assault and battery - attempts to cause, or intentionally or knowingly causes bodily injury to another with a deadly weapon, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Initial Court Appearance

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, Gillispie was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charge.

Williams appointed Gillispie a public defender and set her preliminary hearing for Friday, Feb. 27, at 9 a.m.

Williams then asked for the state's position regarding bond.

"Your honor, in light of the allegations, the state would recommend a $3,000 cash bond," the state said.

"My kids, I don't know where they're at right now because they were left at the home and I really need to get home to them," Gillispie told Williams.

"I don't have a felony history," Gillispie added. "The victim in this matter does have quite a long history, which they did see strangulation marks from him, and all I want to do is like get to work, take care of my children, stay away from everybody."

"How much money can you post," Williams asked Gillispie.

"All I have is I'm hoping maybe on my card $100, but I'm not able to contact anyone because they didn't let me bring my phone with me, so what's on my card is at my home," Gillispie said.

Out on Bond

"The court is going to set your bond at $3,000 at 10%, which means you need to post $300. That's the best that the court can do based on the nature of the offense," Williams told Gillispie, who later posted the $300.

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
