Alberty was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center and subsequently charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison, up to a $15,000 fine, or both.

Initial Court Appearance

On Tuesday, Sept. 2, Alberty was seen in Laramie County Circuit Court in front of Judge Antoinette Williams on the charge.

Williams appointed Alberty a public defender and asked for the state's position regarding bond.

"Mr. Alberty has a lengthy criminal history," the state said. "I would note that he has a history of failures to appear in '18, three in '19, two in '21, and a failure to appear in 2022. He also was found in contempt, failure to comply in 2021. He has numerous parole or probation violations in '15, '16, and'17, also in '19 and '23. He was charged with escape in 2017."

"He also does not appear to have ties to the community," the state added. "The state would be requesting $10,000 cash in this matter."

Bond Set at $10K Cash

Williams adopted the state's recommendation.

Alberty's next court date will be a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 2:15 p.m.

Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
