Laramie Police Issue Fake ID Scam Warning

The Laramie Police Department is warning people about scams involving people supposedly selling fake ID online.

That's according to a post on the Laramie Police Department's Facebook page. The post says the scams often target college students and typically are used to steal sensitive personal information, such as name, date of birth, address, photo, signature, driver's license number, and often payment details. While the info is supposedly needed for the fake ID, in fact, the scammers are using it to open fake accounts.

In other cases the info is being used to take out loans or is even being sold on the dark web.

Repairing the damage can often take years.
