I-80 Traffic Stop in Cheyenne Leads to Felony Meth Charge
A 47-year-old Kimball, Nebraska woman is facing a felony methamphetamine charge following a Tuesday night traffic stop in southeast Cheyenne.
According to a booking sheet, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper was patrolling on Interstate 80 near College Drive when, at about 10:47 p.m., he spotted "a white passenger truck traveling eastbound with a white light to the rear illuminating from the driver side tail light."
The trooper caught up to the truck and stopped it near Campstool Road.
When the trooper approached on the passenger side, he reportedly smelled burnt marijuana.
He also noticed that the front seat passenger, later identified as Shena Buckius, was not wearing her seat belt.
Search Leads to 4.1 Grams of Meth
When the trooper searched the truck, he reportedly found a small black backpack on the passenger side floorboard where Buckius was sitting that contained two baggies of suspected methamphetamine, a torch, and a methamphetamine pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue inside.
Items belonging to Buckius, including her credit and debit cards, were also reportedly found in the backpack.
The trooper says the suspected methamphetamine weighed 4.1 grams.
