A Cheyenne teen is facing a felony theft charge after she was reportedly caught on camera shoplifting.

According to a booking sheet, police were called to the Walmart at 2032 Dell Range Blvd. around 6 p.m. last Friday, Feb. 16, after 19-year-old Miyoshi Woodard allegedly tried to steal $1,018,94 worth of items.

Police say Walmart employees told them that they watched Woodard on video surveillance pushing a cart full of items around the store.

Another female who was reportedly seen shopping with Woodard then left the store, and after a few minutes, Woodard pushed the cart full of items past the checkout area without paying for them.

Woodard reportedly told police that the female she was shopping with told her that she paid for the items using the Scan & Go Walmart app, but police say video surveillance showed the female never attempted to scan her phone at the self-checkout to pay for the items.

Police say Woodard also couldn't provide proof of her payment through the app.

Woodard was arrested and subsequently charged with felony theft, a crime punishable by up to years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

She made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning, during which her bond was set at $1,000 cash and her preliminary hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m.
