A 58-year-old Wyoming man is dead after being run over by a semi in Fremont County, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.

Crash Details

It happened around 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at milepost 8.3 on Wyoming 132 (Blue Sky Highway) outside of Ethete.

According to a fatality crash summary, the driver of a Peterbilt combination unit was headed north when he came upon a male, later identified as Aloysius Piper, lying in the northbound lane.

"Due to the unlit roadway, the driver was unable to see the male until he was almost upon him," the summary reads. "The driver of the Peterbilt slammed on the brakes but was unable to avoid the male, striking him."

Sadly, Piper did not survive his injuries. The trucker was uninjured.

The summary does not list any possible contributing factors.

2nd Pedestrian Fatality of 2026

Piper is the second reported pedestrian and the ninth reported person to die on Wyoming's highways this year.

The first reported pedestrian fatality also occurred in Fremont County, roughly 20 miles east of where Piper was killed.

The state saw 12 pedestrian fatalities in 2025. Albany, Sheridan, and Sweetwater counties each recorded three; and Campbell, Hot Springs, and Teton counties each recorded one.
