‘I’ll Stick You': Cheyenne Man Accused of Threatening Group With Knife
A 61-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after reportedly threatening a group with a knife.
According to a booking sheet, police were called to 312 W. 17th St. at about 1:37 a.m. on
Sunday, Aug. 18 for a report of a suspicious person.
Suspicious Person Call Leads to Aggravated Assault Charge
Police say they contacted three people who told them that an unknown Black male had been walking around the store and vehicles, and when they confronted him, he began to argue with them and then pulled a knife out of his right pocket and said, "I'll stick you."
The male then reportedly left the area and was unable to be located.
Police say they contacted a member at the halfway house next door, who told them they believed the unknown male was Ray Robinson.
Police say later in the evening, Robinson called 911 to explain his side of the story and admitted to getting into an argument with the group.
Police say Robinson called 911 throughout the night and eventually a welfare check was placed on him, and he was subsequently arrested at 4:42 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19 after police contacted him at his home in the 1600 block of Carey Ave.
Robinson was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident and charged with aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Bond Set at $5K Cash
Robinson made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Aug. 20, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m.
