
Vehicle Restrictions In Place On Most Of I-80 In Wyoming
Height and weight restrictions are in place for Interstate 80 between Rock Springs and Cheyenne due to dangerous winds and an extreme blow over risk.
Some stretches of Interstate 80 are also reporting slick conditions and blowing snow.
Part of Interstate 25 between Cheyenne and Wheatland is under similar restrictions.
That's according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation road and travel website.
I-25 is reporting dry conditions with dangerous winds between Cheyenne and Wheatland. The website says restrictions for that stretch of highway are "Closed to all high profile vehicles under 40000 GVW due to gusting winds."
However, the part of I-25 from Cheyenne to to the Colorado State line reported no restrictions as of 12:45 p.m.
Most Of I-80 Facing Extreme Blow Over Risk
Most of Interstate 80 in Wyoming was under similar restrictions, with both lanes between Cheyenne and Rock Springs under height and weight restrictions. The exact parameters of those restrictions varied, however. Between Cheyenne and Rawlins, the guidelines were Closed to all high profile vehicles under 40000 GVW due to gusting winds.
But from Rawlins to Rock Springs, the restrictions were somewhat less in terms of weight, with those guidelines being listed as "Closed to all high profile vehicles under 20000 GVW due to gusting winds."
The section of I-80 between Cheyenne and Rock Springs was listed as an extreme blow over risk, with some areas also reporting slick conditions and blowing snow. The Summit of I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie also was under a High Wind Warning
