John Barrasso and Mark Gordon Ranked Among Most Popular Politicians In The U.S.
In a politically divided country, several Wyoming politicians are among the most popular elected officials in America.
A recent poll ranked John Barrasso as the third most popular Senator in the nation with a 59% approval rating among Wyoming voters compared to a 26% disapproval rating with his constituents, according to the research company Morning Consult. Among Senators, Barrasso trails only Bernie Sanders (65% approval) and Patrick Leahy (63% approval), both from Vermont. Wyoming's senior Senator Mike Enzi ranked sixth in the nationwide poll, with a 56% approval rate, compared to a 23% disapproval rate.
A similar poll also ranked Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon as the fourth most popular Governor in the country. Just over a year into his first term, Gordon enjoys a 63% approval rating from voters compared to only 13% who disapprove, trailing only Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker (73% approval), Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (70% approval), and Vermont Governor Phil Scott (64% approval).
Outgoing Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, who is contesting the results from last week's narrow defeat in his bid for reelection, was the least popular Governor in the poll with a 34% approval rate compared to a 54% disapproval rate.
Both approval and disapproval ratings were typically higher for Governors than Senators in the polling. Idaho Senator Jim Risch was the least popular Senator in the nationwide poll, with 46% of voters approving of his job performance compared to 28% who disapprove.
