Cheyenne police are losing a couple of doggone good officers.

The department announced Monday that K9 Capo and K9 Ruger are retiring after seven years of service.​

"Capo received a lifesaving award in 2015 when he came to the rescue of his handler, Officer Koeppel," said Officer Kevin Malatesta.  "Ruger has conducted 545 drug searches and apprehended 35 suspects."

Police are hosting a retirement ceremony for the K9s this Wednesday at 4 p.m.  The public is welcome to attend.
