Laramie County Inmate Charged with Murder Charged in Jail Attack
A Laramie County inmate awaiting trial on a slew of charges, including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly attacking a fellow inmate.
The alleged incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on June 3.
Due to the extent of his injuries, Carr was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. X-rays revealed Carr had multiple facial fractures in his left eye orbital socket, according to an affidavit.
McHenry reportedly told a sergeant that he assaulted Carr because he disrespected him by calling him a b----.
A preliminary hearing on the matter is set for June 12 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
McHenry is accused of killing 61-year-old Joseph "Stevie" Tortolito and attempting to kill Kristen Smith during a May 11, 2018 shooting in south Cheyenne.
On Sept. 24, 2018, he pleaded not guilty by reason of mental illness to first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated burglary-deadly weapon, four counts of interference with a peace officer-injury and misdemeanor property destruction.
McHenry's jury trial is currently set for Oct. 16.
