Meet Andy Corbin, The Pumpkin King of Wyoming
By day, Corbin is an IT Supervisor for the State of Wyoming Community College Commision. But his real passion is growing pumpkins, REALLY big pumpkins.
Which isn't easy to do in a place like Wyoming, where the elevation and unpredictable weather make for a shorter growing season.
Last year, Corbin's dream came true when he set a new record for the largest pumpkin ever grown in Wyoming, which weighed in at a whopping 1268 lbs.
Amazingly, the record setter wasn't the only pumpkin from last year's crop that tipped the scales at over 1,000 pounds. He also grew a 1,094 pounder, which ranks as the third-biggest pumpkin ever grown in Wyoming.
In fact, of the ten largest ghourds ever produced in the Cowboy State, Corbin has grown four of them.
He's not the only pumpkin farmer in Wyoming. Ron Hoffman of Riverton held the previous record for Wyoming's largest pumpkin for three years. In 2012, Hoffman grew a 1209 pounder. Hoffman has also produced six of the ten largest pumpkins ever grown in Wyoming.
