The older I get, I have started realizing why my mom did the things she did back when we were growing up (and even now still).
Your relationship with your mom changes. You become less dependent on her in ways and become better friends. It's the person who brought you into this world, the first person you met, and the first person that loved you.

When you ask your mom what she wants for Mother's Day and she replies 'nothing'--here's why. And from a kid perspective--I get it now. Every year we read this certain poem on the air and I'm comfortable enough, that I even get teared up a little hearing it. There was something new that we shared with you on the air this morning, and you may have already seen it on Facebook being passed around. It was one of those "Copy and Paste if you agree" statements for mom. So many people called to ask where they could find it so here it is.Moms: How true is this?

I don’t understand the whole “I got them to 18” method as a parent. Having children is a LIFETIME commitment. Maybe I’m just different but I want my kids to come take groceries and toilet paper out of my cabinets when they are 22. I want them to stop for dinner when it is their favorite meal at age 34. I want to watch their eyes sparkle when they are opening gifts they wanted for Christmas at 40. I want them to know I’m one call away and it doesn’t stop at age 18. They are forever my kids not temporary assignments!
Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms out there!
