Christmas travel plans were disrupted for an Omaha, Nebraska family after an accident at the Riverton Regional Airport Sunday evening.

A family of five, including three young boys, had intended to spend the holiday in Idaho. Instead, they settled for the Riverton Holiday Inn.

Their Piper Arrow had landed late in the afternoon Christmas Eve for a quick fuel stop. When they attempted to depart, the plane hit a patch of black ice and slid off of the runway, breaking its landing gear. No injuries to the passengers were reported.

Riverton airport staff helped remove the plane from the runway via crane, with local company, Jerry Bornhoft Construction.
