In Northern Colorado, hockey means The Colorado Eagles and their games at the Budweiser Events Center. Further south in Denver, you have the NHL Central Division’s two time Stanley Cup winners, The Avalanche. As of Wednesday, July 20, 2016, the two have come together.

In a statement from Eagles head office, ”The Colorado Eagles announced Wednesday that they’ve reached an affiliation agreement with the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche.  Under the agreement, the Eagles will act as the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League but no longer used) affiliate for any player assigned to the league by the San Antonio Rampage, the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate.”

The Avs have nine division titles since setting up in Denver back in 1995.  They also hold the NHL record for consecutive sellouts with 487. Obviously, they are very popular.

In addition to adding the Eagles, the Rampage will still serve as the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate for the second consecutive season during the 2016-17 campaign. Hopefully this valuable affiliation will help the Eagles win their first Kelly Cup!

The 2016-17 regular season home schedule kicks off on Saturday, October 15th when the Eagles host the Rapid City Rush. A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com
