Do you love peaches?

There's a lot to love on a huge peach picked recently on the western slope of Colorado.

Farmer Robert Helmer harvested a Cresthaven peach that weighed 1.5 pounds according to the Grand Juction Sentinal.

An average peach weighs about half a pound, one third of Helmer's giant peach. It would cost $3.28 at "Farmer Bob"'s fruit stand, where peaches sell for $2.50 per pound.

The Palisade Chamber of Commerce says the largest peach previously seen there was one that weighed 1.14 pounds in 2007. Palisade is considered Colorado's peach capital and farmers in the area say this year's fruit is especially large. Growers say late-season peaches are heavier than those harvested earlier in the summer.
