Pine Bluffs To Celebrate Derby Day With Corgi Races
Thoroughbred horses won't be the only animals running for the roses on Derby Day. Pine Bluffs Distilling will celebrate the Kentucky Derby with a live corgi race on Saturday, May 4th.
"That's right... Pine Bluffs' very first CORGI RACES! Heck, maybe even Wyoming's first!," PBD announced on Facebook.
The event will be a fundraiser for a local animal shelter and organizers are currently looking for 25 corgis to compete in the race. The winning dog and their owner will receive a trophy and prizes will also be rewarded for the best Derby hats and Star Wars attire (May 4th is also International Star Wars Day).
While only corgis will be allowed to race, the distillery is inviting all well-behaved dogs to attend the inaugural event, which will also feature food trucks and several Kentucky Derby-themed cocktails.
Laramie County's first licensed distillery opened in 2017 and recently won three national medals for their Rock Ranch Vodka, Lodgepole Creek Bourbon, and Muddy Creek Bourbon.
