Police Still Seeing Widespread Cellphone, Texting Violations
A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says police are still seeing traffic laws banning cell phone usage (except for hands free devices) and texting by motorists widely ignored. Lt Mark Munari says he often goes on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle and is both surprised and disappointed by the number of motorists he sees talking on their cell phones or texting. A local ordinance has been in effect for quite some time banning cell phone usage by motorists other than hands free devices. A state law bans texting by motorists while driving. Munari says texting drivers are especially easy to spot, since they often swerve and drift in a way that resembles the driving of a drunk motorist.
