
Quiet Zone Planned for Railroad Crossing
Assistant City Engineer Nathan Beauheim says city officials are working with the Wyoming Department of Transportation and the Burlington Northern Railroad to institute a “quiet zone” where the rail line crosses 24th street in Cheyenne. Trains have traditionally blown their horns as a safety precaution when crossing the roadway, and some Cheyenne residents say that tradition dates at least back to the 1970′s, if not much longer than that.
