It was June 10th 1971, and more than a thousand fans without tickets showed up during a sold out concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Denver. When some of the ticket-less started trying to break in through the police line and threw rocks at police, the cops fired tear gas into the crowd which sent 28 people to the hospital.

The band crashed their way in and played on despite some of them having trouble seeing. Afterwards, then Mayor McNichols banned rock concerts from the venue for 5 years, until concert promoter Barry Fey sued the city and won.

The boys in the band were able to sneak out after the show under some blankets in a car to avoid arrest that night.
