UPDATE: The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the trooper involved in the accident in Glenrock is in stable condition and both he and the other driver are expected to recover.

Here is the official release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol...

"A Wyoming State Trooper was injured this afternoon (June 30th) after being involved in a two vehicle crash while responding to a shots fired call. The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. on June 30th at mile post 163.63 on US Highway 20/26 near the eastern city limits of Glenrock, Wyoming.    

The Trooper was responding emergent to a “shots fired” call in Douglas, Wyoming when the crash occurred. The Trooper's patrol car and an SUV were the two vehicles involved in the crash. The Trooper's patrol car did roll multiple times during the crash. The Trooper was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. The SUV was occupied by the driver only. 

The Trooper was taken by helicopter ambulance to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. The driver of the SUV was transported by ground ambulance to Wyoming Medical Center. 

Injuries sustained to both the Trooper and the driver of the SUV are not believed to be life threatening." 

Meanwhile in Douglas, the Converse County Sheriff's Office posted this message on its Facebook page...

"At this time, we ask everyone to stay away from the Courthouse area. The Courthouse, Memorial Hospital and City Hall are on lockdown. Thank you."

A Wyoming Highway Patrol officer has been involved in an horrific accident on the Old Glenrock Highway.

The trooper was apparently speeding on his way to a call and struck another vehicle, rolling several times.

The trooper was taken by helicopter to the Wyoming Medical Center, and the other driver by ambulance.

And the call he was answering involved a shooting near a church in Douglas as federal agents were serving a warrant after a funeral.

The Douglas Budget newspaper is reporting that the dead man is Scott Ramirez, and the shooting occurred in the parking lot of St. James Catholic Church.

They say this is an active incident, and multiple agencies were involved including the local police, Natrona County Sheriff and Wyoming Highway Patrol, in addition to the DCI.
