The man who was responsible for firing the shot that killed Osama bin Laden brought his historical account to the Cowboy State. His service and story is amazing! His name is Rob O'Neill, team leader of Navy S.E.A.L. (SEa, Land and Air) Team 6, from Butte, Montana. Decorated more than 52 times with honors to include: 2 Silver Stars, 4 Bronze Stars with Valor, a joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, 3 Presidential Unit citations and 2 Navy/Marine Corps Commendations with Valor.

If that's not enough to hint that he is an American hero, we'll add the fact that he was the one who shot the bullet that killed Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011 in Pakistan. O'Nell was the team leader who was involved in what was known as Operation Neptune Spear.

According to O'Neill, they didn't think they were coming back either way. He said the they thought they were either going to die, or be captured. In a conversation prior to the mission, he and his team said the worst think that could happen is that the helicopter would crash. And it did.

O'Neill was also involved with the mission to rescue the Maersk Alabama from Somali pirates, which was recounted in the film "Captain Phillips."

It was great to spend some time with Mr. O'Neill who brings his story across America, not only to help bring closure to the families who lost loved ones on 9-11, but also for the country that he was proud to serve.
