Laramie County School District#1 Superintendent Mark Stock says he is leaving to take a position with the University of Wyoming.

Stock says he has accepted a professorial  position at the University and will work to develop a "Center for Educational Leadership" to offer training for educational administrators across Wyoming. He says that while universities offer the training needed to become a school principal, there is little additional education available for those administrators once they have their license.

He says the new position will allow him to take what he has learned as an administrator and apply it to educating principals around the state. Stock has yet to announce when he expects to serve his last day, adding it will "be sometime this summer".

The school board is expected to begin discussion of the process for finding a new superintendent at tonight's board meeting.
