The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking for the public's help in hunting down whoever poached a mature bull elk in Sybille Canyon early this month.

Anyone with information on this wildlife violation can report tips or suspicious activity by calling the Stop Poaching Hotline 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847).

Because grizzly bears are listed as “threatened” under the federal Endangered Species Act, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service appeal and Peta are coming together to offer a monetary reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the suspected poaching.

According to a news release, Lovell Game Warden Dillon Herman discovered the deer's carcass between Garland and Deaver east of Wyoming Highway 114.

Wheatland Game Warden David Ellsworth says the incident likely occurred on the evening of Oct. 22.

Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 if their information leads to a conviction.

According to a Wyoming Game and Fish statement, Grove was convicted in 2018 for illegally taking a grizzly bear north of Dubois in 2015.

Each of them admitted to shooting the lion and taking the carcass back to their vehicle.
