Shows got cancelled before 2020, who knew? This week's Throwback Thursday was that time the iconic '90s rock band supposedly almost played on the Colorado State campus, but didn't.

Nirvana at CSU? Ah, nevermind that. The show never happened, but it was scheduled for October 10 of 1989, according to livenirvana.com.

They weren't set to play Hughes or even Mobe Arena — in 1989, the band was just starting out, and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' had yet to grace radio airwaves or MTV. Nirvana was supposed to play at the campus bar, the student center's Ramskeller, if you can believe that because honestly I can't.

According to the site, the gig was reportedly cancelled because the booker backed out and the show was called off. They did, however, play shows around Denver and Boulder, up until Kurt Cobain's death in 1994. You can see some clips here.
