Cheyenne's "Thankful Thursday" party for a purpose has always been more than a great time.

When we first started I didn't know if we'd make $5 or $5,000 - Brian "Alf" Grzegorczyk

Six years later, Alf's plan to give back to Cheyenne charities has raised over $850,000 combined for various non-profit organizations. 100 percent of proceeds raised during the weekly party for a purpose have gone back groups ranging from animal shelters, to preventing child abuse, and providing meals for those in need.

On Saturday, June 18, Thankful Thursday was recognized by the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters at their yearly award ceremony.

The event received first place for "Best Public Service in a Large Market."

Along with the plaque, Alf was awarded a $500 prize from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters, which in true Alf-style, he assured everyone would go back to a Cheyenne charity.

Thankful Thursday returns to the Redwood Lounge in the fall of 2016!
