The Cheyenne food truck scene continued to grow this summer, with several newcomers adding their unique flavor to local events.

Here's our completely subjective and totally unofficial list of the five tastiest meals on wheels here in the Capital City.

1. On the Hook Fish and Chips - Hands down, the best fish and chips you'll find anywhere in Wyoming. This Laramie-based truck has quickly become a popular fixture at the Cheyenne Food Truck rallies and during various local events.

The secret to their success is freshness. The owner comes from a family of commercial fisherman in Alaska, who ship the latest catch directly to him each week. Simply put, On the Hook is off the hook.

2. The Happy Taco Hut - Another newcomer, the Vigil family runs this truck, which specializes in authentic Mexican cuisine. But the real star of the menu is their green chili.

I've had green chili at several places around town and this is as good as it gets. When they're not at local events, you can find them on the weekends in the Lennox Detail Center parking lot on Pershing.

3. Bella Fuoco Wood Fired Pizza - Although it's technically not a truck, their mobile wood-fired oven has become a staple at Cheyenne Depot Plaza events. Their thin crust pizza is excellent and goes great with beer.

Rumor has it, the family-owned outfit is planning to open their first brick and mortar restaurant soon, a pizza and wine bar on Central Avenue.

4. The Daily Press - Michael Stromberg has come a long way since he first introduced the Daily Press in 2015. With two summers under his belt now, his Cuban panini ranks among the best sandwiches in town.

If you get the chance to try his soup, go for it. He makes it with beer from Freedom's Edge Brewing Company, where you will often find the truck parked on afternoons and evenings.

5. Tasty Bones - The secret is out. Since opening their first restaurant earlier this summer, this downtown BBQ joint has received rave reviews online.

Although they've scaled back their food truck operation, you'll still find Tasty Bones on the streets at area events. And whether you're at their restaurant or ordering from the truck, their pulled pork, ribs and brisket are always on the money. Pro tip: get their mac and cheese for your side and thank me later.
