The Denver Pacific Railroad had it's heyday back in the early 19th Century. However, on this day, the connection between Denver and Cheyenne was established.

It was a great day for commerce and travel on this day back in 1877, when the Denver Pacific Railroad made it's connection with Cheyenne, in southeastern Wyoming.

Eventually, the railroad company merged with the Kansas Pacific and Union Pacific railroads in 1880.

Because Denver was known as a major metropolis, it was important for rail to connect in Cheyenne and merge with the transcontinental railroad, which ran east and west.
