Two Reasons To Leave Wyoming… This Weekend
South of the border in Colorado, there will be couple of festivals worth checking out. The downtown Loveland Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival is on for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 19 & 20.
The Grand Marshall kicks off the event Friday at 5:00 p.m. in downtown Loveland, followed by vendors, food, a corn shucking contest and concert.
Saturday gets a 6:30 a.m. start with a pancake breakfast. Then vendors, kid zone, parade, corn sales, beer garden, duck race, corn eating contest and live music. There’s more HERE.
All that is great, but I just want to eat properly roasted corn. I’m an Iowa boy by birth and I love roasted corn. This is the time of years for good, ripe corn. Getcha some!
This is also the time of year for peaches. I am particularly fond of Palisade peaches, in fact it may be closer to an affair. By themselves or in a pie or cobbler my wife makes. Delicious! Harvest season is one of my favorite times of year.
Saturday, August 20, is the Annual Fort Collins Peach Festival at Hughes Stadium. An 8 a.m. 5k walk/run kicks off the event, followed by their peach pancake breakfast, Peach Festival, Peach Pie Eating contest, music, another eating contest and more live music. Oh, and its free to attend, but $5 parking.
There’s more at fortcollinspeachfestival.com.
Roasted Corn and Palisade Peaches. Worth the drive. And there's food for the eyes and soul in Cheyenne with the Cheyenne Arts Festival. Lots to do this weekend.
