UPDATE: Westbound I-80 Reopens After 5-Hour Closure

Westbound Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie reopened around 1 p.m. Wednesday after a crash earlier in the morning triggered a roughly five-hour closure.

According to Wyoming Department of Transportation spokesman Matt Murphy, the crash happened around 6:20 a.m. at mile marker 324 near the Summit, and the westbound lanes were closed around 7:45 a.m.

"I'm not sure what the decision was," said Murphy.  "I know there was a few different fender benders up there, but I haven't heard anything about a fatality or anything like that."

"It was (snowing) earlier today, like pretty hard ... but it's kind of cleared up now, it's just windy," he added.

A crash has forced the closure of westbound Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

As of 9:30 a.m., the estimated opening time is in two to four hours.

I-80 eastbound is open, but drivers should expect reduced visibility.
